The federal break time for nursing mothers law requires employers covered by the fair labor standards act flsa to provide basic accommodations for breastfeeding mothers at work.

Specifically the federal lactation room law states that any covered employer under the flsa must provide its non exempt employees with reasonable break time for a period of one year after the. The law requires employers to provide a place that is not a bathroom.
